Credibility of a bibliography for submitted papers in academic journals

Abstract
전자정보기술의 지속적인 발전으로 수많은 자료의 출처에 손쉽게 접근하고 검색하여 이용할 수 있는 정보과다(information over load) 시대가 되었다. 2005년 등재학술지라는 평가제도를 통하여 가장 많이 인용되는 치과계의 학술지로 평가받아 왔다. 인용한 참고문헌이 단지 게재에 필요한 규정만을 이용한 일부 투고논문들의 출처에 신뢰성이 매우 낮은 경우가 있다. 심사과 정에서 참고문헌의 출처의 신뢰성이 부족하더라도 심사결과를 기술하는 경우가 있었음을 고백한다. 특히 학위논문을 학회지에 투고할 경우, 신뢰성있는 인용문헌을 중심으로 주요내용을기술하였는지 자문해 본다. 키워드나 검색시스템을 이용한 문헌검색에서 필요치 않는 자료도 번번이 포함된다. 또한 자료의 증가로 자신이 원하는 정보를 빠른 시간 내에 정확히 찾기가 점점 더 어려워지고 있다. 특히 근거중심의 체계적 문헌고찰(systematic reviews)이나 메타분석(meta-analyses)자료의 인용근거를 기술한 내용을 접할 때마다 느끼는 이유에 해당된다. 신뢰성 있는 참고문헌의 표기는 관심 있는 연구자의 선호자료(preference)로써 널리 활용되는데 기초가 될 것이다.
Continuous development of electronic information technology has brought out the era of information overload where we can easily access and use countless data sources through data mining. The journals in the field of dentistry have been evaluated as the most cited scholarly journals by the evaluation system called Korea Citation Index (KCI) Journal. Sometimes, the credibility of cited bibliography, as sources for submitted papers that have used only the regulations needed for publication, is very low. I confess that there are cases where examination results are declared even though the bibliography sources lack credibility. In particular, when I submit a master’s thesis to an academic journal, I ask myself if I have described the major contents based on reliable cited bibliography. During a bibliographic search using key words or a search system, unnecessary data are often included. Moreover, with the increase of data, searching for required information within a short time span becomes difficult. I particularly encounter this issue whenever I face evidence-based systematic reviews or descriptions of quotation grounds of metaanalyses data. Preference of credible bibliography will be the basis of wide utilization among all interested researchers.
